What is the Mentorship Programme?
The Women in Science Mentorship Programme is a year- long initiative that pairs women with experienced mentors for 1-on-1 coaching. The specific scientific fields targeted by the programme are fields related to infectious diseases, vaccine research, population studies and data science.
It provides structured guidance, career development, and networking opportunities to support mentees in their professional growth.
- 12-month structured mentorship
- Mentees apply & are matched with a mentor
- Monthly 1-on-1 online meetings
THE APPROACH:
How this programme was created
This mentorship programme was co-created by women for women. Co-creation is a collaborative process where stakeholders actively engage in the design of the programme.
This programme was shaped through online discussions with mentors and mentees in vaccine research from across the globe.
The experiences and perspectives of both mentors and mentees form the backbone of the programme. The resulting guidebook was designed to capture the complex insights shared during the development phase and
translate these into actionable tips and tricks that can be applied beyond the programme.
This guidebook has been tailored to cut across geographical and cultural barriers and is publicly available on the HypoVax Global website (www.hypovax.org).
Participation in this programme we hope will provide access to networks that are otherwise difficult to reach and give early career women in vaccine research and related fields greater exposure in the global scientific community and the opportunity to amplify their voices.
